In Remembrance of Daphne Marghetis

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Daphne Marghetis a long standing member, coach and friend of the Nepean Blue Devils Basketball Association. Daphne has been courageously battling pancreatic cancer for the last two years and passed away on July 27th, 2017. She leaves behind her husband Mike and daughter Kiana.

Daphne started coaching with the Nepean Blue Devils thirteen years ago.  Over the years she has coached 100’s of young female athletes from the age of 5 to 17. She shared her deep knowledge and passion for the game with all of us. That passion lives on in many of us who have had the opportunity to coach with Daphne.  More importantly that passion lives on in the many young women that Daphne has coached and mentored over the years.

When Daphne coached a team she always referred to the players as “her girls”.  She saw her team as family and was very proud of all the players who had the courage to step on the court and fight to be the best they could be.  The courage that Daphne has shown over the last two years has been an inspiration to the entire Nepean Basketball community.  We will miss you Daphne, we will miss your humour, your fire, your drive and your dedication.  Thank you for so generously sharing your time with us.

There will be a visitation for family and friends and members of the Nepean Basketball community on Tuesday August 1st, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Kelly Funeral Home at 3000 Woodroffe Avenue.
